Investigating the Disk-Corona Relation in a Blue AGN Sample
We compile a blue AGN sample from SDSS and investigate the ratio of hard Xray to bolometric luminosity in dependence on Eddington ratio and black hole mass. Our sample comprises 240 radio-quiet Seyfert 1 galaxies and QSOs. We find that the fraction of hard X-ray luminosity (log(L2−10kev/Lbol)) decreases with the increase of Eddington ratio. We also find that the fraction of hard X-ray luminosit...
متن کاملThe AGN-Disk Dynamics Connection
Any connection between central activity and the large-scale dynamics of disk galaxies requires an efficient mechanism to remove angular momentum from the orbiting material. The only viable means of achieving inflow from kiloparsec scales is through gravitational stresses created by bars and/or mergers. The inflow of gas in bars today appears to stall at a radius of few hundred parsec, however, ...
متن کاملCold Massive Molecular Clouds in the Inner Disk of M31
We present new interferometric CO(1-0) and single-dish CO(3-2) observations of the central parts of D478, a large (> 200 pc) dark dust cloud located in a quiescent region of the inner disk of M31 where single-dish CO(1-0) and CO(2-1) observations were previously obtained. Only a small fraction (< 15%) of the CO(1-0) flux previously detected in this region with the single-dish telescope is recor...
متن کاملMicrolensing by Stars in the Disk of M31
The optical depth to microlensing toward M31 due to known stars in the disk of M31 itself is τ ∼ 2 × 10 −7 e −r/d where d is the disk scale length and r is the distance along the major axis. Thus, there can be significant lensing toward the M31 disk even if M31 contains no dark compact objects. The optical depth has a strong dependence on azimuthal angle: at fixed radius τ ∝ [1 + (h/d) tan i co...
متن کاملM31’s Undisturbed Thin Disk of Globular Clusters
We show that there is a subsystem of the M31 globular clusters with thin disk kinematics. These clusters span the entire metallicity range of the M31 globular cluster system, in contrast to the (thick) disk globulars in the Milky Way which are predominantly metal-rich. Disk globular clusters are found across the entire disk of M31 and form ∼40% of the clusters projected on its disk. The existen...
